CLEAR Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions to assist you. If you do not find the answer to your question, you may contact CLEAR via one of the following ways:
  • E-Mail: memberservices@clearme.com
  • Phone: 855-CLEARME(253-2763)
  • App: On the bottom of the home page of the CLEAR app, there is a "Get In Touch" button.
Q. What do I need to provide to enter Capital One Arena?

A. For the upcoming Dave Chappelle show you will be required to show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test result within a certain time frame ahead of the show.

Proof of vaccination or negative test results will be required prior to entering security screening.  Please have your “green” Health Pass ready to show to the on-site staff.

Important: Capital One Arena is utilizing the free CLEAR mobile phone app to verify this policy. In order to get you into the venue as quickly as possible, download the free CLEAR app and verify your proof of vaccination or negative COVID test with Health Pass.  If you do not have a “green” Health Pass ready prior to arriving at Capital One Arena, you may experience a significant delay prior to entering.

For testing, please note the following timetable parameters:
  • Antigen tests or Molecular (PCR) tests must be administered no earlier than Sunday, November 21

Q. What is the difference between an antigen test and a PCR test?

A. PCR (Molecular) Test:
This tests for the presence of the actual virus’s genetic material or its fragments as it breaks down. This is the most reliable and accurate test for detecting active infection.

Antigen Test:
This test detects bits of proteins on the surface of the virus called antigens. Antigen tests are typically considered rapid, taking only 15 to 30 minutes but are less accurate than a PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are most accurate when used within a few days of the start of your symptoms, which is when the largest amount of virus is present in your body.

Q. Where do I get tested?

A. Fans are strongly encouraged to receive their COVID-19 tests at a LabCorp, Quest, BioReference Labs (BRL) or CVS Minute Clinic facility as those systems integrate with CLEAR Health Pass.

For added assurance, fans are encouraged to bring printed backup copies of their test results.

Q. Can I use a home test to prove negative results?

A. Unfortunately, there is no way to verify at-home results via the CLEAR app at this time. You must go through a verified testing facility which links to the CLEAR system, such as those listed above.

Q. Do I need to show my photo ID with my proof of a negative test?

A. The CLEAR app verifies your identity.  You will only need your ID if you are unable to link your negative COVID-19 test results to Health Pass.

Q. What do you mean by “fully vaccinated?”

A. You are considered fully vaccinated if you are at least two weeks after your final dose of either Pfizer or Moderna or two weeks after your single dose of Johnson & Johnson.

Q. Do I need to show my photo ID with my proof of vaccination?

A. The CLEAR app verifies your identity.  You will only need your ID if you are unable verify your proof of vaccination with Health Pass.

Q. Can I just show my vaccination card or a picture of my vaccination card?

A. CLEAR Health Pass is the accepted method to verify your proof of vaccination. You must upload your information into the free CLEAR app. To use the CLEAR Health Pass, download the CLEAR cell phone app, tap the white Health Pass tile, select the Capital One Arena, and enroll. From there, follow the prompts to include your proof of vaccination. Failing to engage the CLEAR app prior to arrival will significantly delay your entry into Capital One Arena.

Q. Can I add more than one vaccination card or negative test to my CLEAR Health Pass?

A. Health Pass can only support one (1) vaccination card at this time and it can only integrate the standard 4:3 CDC issued vaccination card.
Q. What do I do if I have a medical or religious exemption?

A. Without vaccination, a CLEAR, or electronic version of a negative COVID-19 ‘Antigen’ test or a negative COVID-19 ‘Molecular’ test within 48 hours of the event will be required.

Q. What do I do if I received my vaccination in another country?

A. The CLEAR app does not support international vaccination cards at this time. If you were vaccinated internationally, there will be staff at the Gallery Place entrance to Capital One Arena (which is the enclosed alleyway between 6th and 7th streets, between G and H Streets NW) on the day of the show you are attending who can assist you.

Q. What do I do if I am under 18 and cannot use CLEAR?

A. Please visit the Gallery Place entrance to Capital One Arena (which is the enclosed alleyway between 6th and 7th streets, between G and H Streets NW) with your vaccination records or negative COVID-19 test documentation.

Q. What do I do if I am bringing someone under 12 who is not eligible for vaccinations?

A. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test is still required for those under 12 years of age, which is a negative COVID-19 ‘Antigen’ test or a negative COVID-19 ‘Molecular’ test within 48 hours of the event. Please use the Gallery Place entrance to Capital One Arena (which is the enclosed alleyway between 6th and 7th streets, between G and H Streets NW) with the person under 12 and be able to produce the negative COVID-19 test documentation.

Q. What if my phone dies?

A. You may experience a delay in entering Capital One Arena. Please plan to arrive at the Gallery Place entrance to Capital One Arena (which is the enclosed alleyway between 6th and 7th streets, between G and H Streets NW) on the day of the show you are attending, and staff will be on hand to assist you.

What if I don’t have a smart phone?

Q. Does this apply to me if I have already purchased tickets?

A. Yes, this policy applies to everyone entering Capital One Arena to attend the event.

Q. Do I have to wear my mask if I am vaccinated?

A. Yes. The District of Columbia has mandated face masks while indoors for everyone age 2 and older and face masks will be required for all guests for the entirety of the event, including while seated in the arena in the ticket holder's assigned seat. Face masks must cover the guest’s nose and mouth, and cannot be a gaiter, open-chin triangle handkerchief/bandana, costume mask, mesh material, or a covering with an exhalation valve or holes.
